Available is a stunning 70mm carving knife made from stunning English bog oak

Blade: The blade has been designed by Ash & Axe and forged in 80crv2 steel across the pond

80CrV2 steel is a traditionally cast, high-carbon tool steel that contains chromium as well as vanadium in quantities high enough to affect the strength and hardness of the crystalline matrix of the steel. Vanadium is an element that is added to steel alloys that are typically used to produce excellent edge retention. Vanadium is prized in knife-making because it produces very durable carbides at the molecular level of the cutting edge.

Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of dark black bog oak from Lincolnshire.

The bog oak has been dug up from the Lincolnshire fens and carefully air dried then kiln dried before being quarter sawn to give a beautifully contrasting pattern. Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.

In the rear of the handle has been fitted brass lanyard tubing and the knife also comes with a length of thick handcut brown shoulder of leather thonging

Leather: The knife is being sold with a handstitched leather sheath and belt dangler set. The leather is a dark brown vegetable tanned shoulder of leather so no harsh chemicals have been used in its production.

The brass fittings are solid cast brass. The sheath set is stitched by hand using a sadlle stitch technique and a thick tan coloured waxed thread.
