KNIFE LAW

UNITED

KINGDOM

KNIFE LAW (UK)

In the UK it is illegal to sell a knife to anyone under 18, unless it has a folding blade 3 inches long / 7.62cm or less (16 to 18 year olds in Scotland can buy cutlery and kitchen knives). Under the Criminal Justice Act 1988, this includes “any knife, knife blade, razor blade, axe or any other article which has a blade or is sharply pointed and which is made or adapted for causing injury to the person”.

Ash + Axe knives are therefore only available to purchase if you are 18+. Proof of age ID which also matches the delivery address must be provided on purchase before the item can be dispatched to you.

When you purchase a knife from Ash + Axe you are agreeing to us completing any such age verification checks that are needed. We reserve the right to refuse to complete any order at our sole discretion. We will not share the age verification information or documents with any third parties, except as may be required to UK law enforcement agencies or as required by law.

It is also illegal to carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife. Please visit the following link for the current list of banned knives: https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives

The above link also sets out information on the law on carrying knives (other than those on the banned knives list) in the UK, when it may be permitted and when carrying a knife may be a criminal offence. Please make sure that you read and understand the law on this. Remember! The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and an unlimited fine. You’ll get a prison sentence if you’re convicted of carrying a knife more than once. If you are unsure, please take advice from a solicitor and/or speak to the police.
